Jeffersonville, Indiana

Jeffersontown is a city in Jefferson County, Kentucky, forming part of the Louisville Metro Area being one of its most prominent suburbs. In 2003 the Louisville Metro government was established, and in a character of its own, Jeffersontown chose to retain its status as an independent city. The city was originally founded by Abraham Bruner, who purchased the land in 1794, and in 1797 petitioned the Jefferson County Fiscal Court to incorporate a section of his land as the city of Jefferson. For the longest time, however, the area was known as Brunerstown until the Jeffersontown name took preference in recent times.
